Global Harmonization System Program

The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals is a system for standardizing the classification of chemicals. Following this system will help define physical and environmental hazards on chemicals and, most importantly, will help communicate hazard information and protective measures to your employees. Hazardous Communication

Alliance will evaluate the hazards of all chemicals and transmit those hazards to your employees. To do this Alliance will create a hazard communication program specific to your company’s unique needs and use of hazardous chemicals. This program will encompass container labeling, warning labels for storage compartments, material safety data sheets and comprehensive employee training classes.

Hazardous Material Handling

Alliance will instruct your team members how to safely handle hazardous material and under what circumstances a seemingly benign chemical becomes hazardous. Alliance will make sure chemicals are properly stored in order to prevent spills or chemical reactions. All staff will be informed on how to handle hazardous material in order to minimize exposure to a particular substance.

DOT (The United States Department of Transportation)

The United States Department of Transportation and OSHA require shippers and carriers of hazardous material to develop and implement a written hazardous material safety plan. Alliance will create a safety plan that adheres to government regulations and maintains the safety of your employees. Hazardous materials include radioactive material, explosive material, material poisonous by inhalation and even materials that are in high quantity but not hazardous in normal circumstances. The transportation of liquids or gases in excess of 3,500 gallons or a shipment of any material weighing greater than 5,000 pounds must be transported safely under a comprehensive hazardous materials security plan.

Labeling

Alliance’s labeling system now follows the GHS standard. Labels must be affixed to chemical containers and include the chemical name and its particular health hazard. Alliance will help identify health hazards, chemical names and provide a list of each label that must be affixed to the chemical container and the storage unit.

SDS (Safety Data Sheet)

A Safety Data Sheet (formally known as a Material Safety Data Sheet -MSDS-) created by Alliance will provide your employees with procedures for handling or working with a substance in a safe manner, and will include information such as physical data (melting point, boiling point, flash point, etc.), toxicity, health effects, first aid, reactivity, storage, disposal, protective equipment, and spill-handling procedures. Alliance will assess your needs and write a SDS for your specific use. Alliance is also available for the revision of your current Safety Data Sheets to ensure that the data is up to date and meets OSHA regulations.
